Wigwe University Hosts 10th African Roots Renaissance Roundtable on Globalization and African Identity

With globalization accelerating the interconnectivity of economies and cultures, Africa finds itself at a crossroads. While opportunities abound, the continent grapples with challenges of cultural erosion, exploitation of natural resources, and external economic dependencies.

In view of this, Wigwe University is set to host the 10th edition of the African Roots Renaissance Roundtable (AR³), a pivotal event exploring the intricate themes of globalization, the new world order, and the evolving concepts of Africanism. This roundtable offers a platform to interrogate these dynamics, empowering participants to reflect on how African values can be preserved and integrated into global systems without compromise.

Scheduled for Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 2 PM, the roundtable promises to be an intellectual feast. Thought leaders, academics, students, and cultural enthusiasts are expected to attend the event which will be held at the Lecture Room 6, College of Management and Social Sciences, Wigwe University, Isiokpo.

Convened by renowned scholar and cultural advocate, Dr. Sam Dede, the roundtable seeks to dissect the impacts of globalization on African identity, values, and sovereignty. The theme, “Globalization, the New World Order, and the Hijacked Concepts of Africanism,” underscores the pressing need for Africans to critically analyze and reclaim narratives that shape their socio-political and economic realities.

The event, supported by Wigwe University and Moriri, aligns with the institution’s broader commitment to fostering dialogue on Africa’s leadership and cultural revival in the global arena.
